Season One awards : part 2 of 4

Another fifteen episodes have passed, so it's time to distribute the awards for Twilight Zone excellence. In the first fifteen episodes we had an even split of great and solid episodes, and only one clunker. Here, sadly, the clunkers multiplied by three, but the number of excellent pieces remained at steady seven.

The Golden Rod award for Twilight Zone excellence goes to : Paladin of the Lost Hour, Act Break, Dealer's Choice, Wong's Lost and Found Emporium, The Shadow Man, Her Pilgrim Soul, I of Newton

The Silver Rod award for valuable addition to the Twilight Zone canon goes to : The Burning Man, Dead Woman's Shoes, The Uncle Devil Show, One Life Furnished in Early Poverty, Night of the Meek

The Bronze Rod award for good effort goes to : Teacher's Aide, Opening Day, The Beacon

It's rather euphemistic that the worst episodes get the award for "good effort". While Craven's Chameleon was essentially just garbled, Teacher's Aide was genuinely bad, Opening Day a mix between disjointed and awful, and The Beacon just a huge wild goose chase. Still, the good ones of this batch are as good as any - Paladin of the Lost Hour is an unsung TZ classic.

One thing has to be hammered out here - while many will favour the original TZ writing over the new episodes, and most of the times for a good reason, the new TZ is head and shoulders above the original when it comes to comedy. No question about that.

As usual, feel free to leave your comments if you agree or disagree with my choices.

Most of your ratings were fair and accurate. However, the best one of them all was "Dead Woman's Shoes". Acting skills on that one were among the best that I've seen in just about any show
